Pratt & Whitney Braze Room and Offices
Among other service lines, Pratt & Whitney's Grand Prairie plant repairs aircraft turbines when they become fatigued or damaged. The process requires highly skilled technicians to do the brazing at stations with special exhaust ventilation. Rose Design developed a two-story structure within the existing plant to contain a braze room and toilets on the first floor, with an open office above. With limited vertical height, first floor air conditioning ductwork was run between floor joists, and lighting and ductwork at the second floor was suspended between roof joists.
